I can't find many recent posts about Gary Fischer here. I'm
just wondering what you guys think of the quality and make
of the Fischer Brand now.
Anyone here own a Gary Fischer for a few years? How is it
holdig up for you?
I stayed in Germany for a year, and just borrowed my friends
mountain bike all the time. I got alot of riding in, but
didn't learn much of anything about mountain biking. Then I
got back to the US and decided I wanted to keep up my habit,
so being a know-nothing I just decided to go out to the bike
shop and buy whatever looked cool for around $400. I ended
up with a Gary Fischer Marlin, I count myself lucky. I could
have just as easily ended up at the mountain bike store
across the street where they sell treks and one size fits
all bikes (!).
Then I didn't ride it for a year. Finally I joined a local
mountain biking club, and since then I've been hitting the
trails every free minute that I have. I'm planning on Biking
with a friend in Coloardo for a week in August, then I'm
heading up to Durango with the local off road club. So far
the bike has held up perfectly, and I haven't been treating
very nicely (My riding style sucks). The gears aren't
shifting as nicely as they did before though. Just hoping
it'll hold up through all of this.
I've got an ectomorph body type (6'2", 150), so the
wear&tear might be a bit lighter than the average guy.
