  1. Me and my Brommie soundly thrashed a Lamborghini round
Marble Arch this afternoon. I will own up to the advantage
from a lot of grid locked traffic though.

    Heh

I overtake a Bentley coupe' almost every day near
    Hampstead 🙂

    Eugenio

P.S. Is there a generic English term for "sporty" car
models? In Italian we borrow the French term...

Q: How many right-to-lifers does it take to change a
    light bulb?
R: Two. One to screw it in and one to say that light
    started when the screwing began.

Oh Dear - Red rag to a bull that one.

Que lots of comments about Pen*s Extensions from the anti
    sports car brigade.

I think you'll find the term is 'sports cars' :-) - Not sure
a Bently coupe gets in though :-)

Just realised why there was traffic chaos and so many people
out and about on Oxford Street - Formula 1 comes to London

Did that once to a Lotus Esprit in Edinburgh. Sitting at the
lights on George Street, Lotus man had the window wound
down, revving his engine, trying to look cool. As the lights
were changing I bent down and said "Race you" then slowly
pootled away as he was stuck there for the next few light
changes due to gridlock. Ah, the simple pleasures :-)

    Did it have Monaco plates?

I burnt up a Lamborghini with Monaco plates on Blackheath
last Sunday. However, I was helped by the fact that it
    was parked.

Shoorly not! There must be an apostrophe there somewhere. If
it's multi sports (eg referring to rally cars and speedway
cars), then *sports' cars* is the term to use, however, if
just one sport then *sport's cars* will suffice. :-)

    You da man!! ;-)

I found bombing it round London on a bike can be a

I blew the doors off a 550 Maranello in Bishopsgate this
morning. Helped that the driver was being interviewed by
Plod for having the temerity to pass through their Ring of
    Plastic...

Sort-of. The generic term Wankmobile covers them together
with city-4x4s and a few others.

I remember once overtaking an e-type jag that didn't want to
be overtaken on a country road with no other traffic. Mind
you, that was coming down the Kirkstone Pass, so I had
plenty of gravity assist... what surprised me was that I did
it by comprehensively out-cornering him. However, he may not
have been a very good driver and it is a _very_ twisty road.

Quite right, too - a Ferrari being an Italian job, you're
only supposed to blow the bloody doors off.

I once overtook an XJ6 while descending the west side of
Hartside, a feat which caused the driver to pull over,
lift the bonnet and peer earnestly at the oily bits
beneath. After all, there /must/ have been something wrong
for his prunkwagen to be overtaken by a madly grinning
    Hairy on a funny-looking engineless Thing <URL: ww-ww-

    Yeeeks!!! no! No! NO!

The apostrophe goes after the second *s*. It is optional to
put in a third *s* after the apostrophe.

e.g. *Jesus' last meal* and *Jesus's last meal* are
    equally correct.

However, *Saint Thomas' Hospital* should always be spelled
without the final *s* because there were two Saints called
Thomas after whom the hospital has been named. (Why it's not
spellled *Saint Thomases' Hospital* or *Saints Thomas'
    Hospital*, I don't quite know.)
