Can anyone with knowhow of respiration mechanics (dynamics?) please help - haven't yet found anything relevant from Google search.
Here's the situation. My own "resting " involuntary pattern is normally one in which the breathing is a regular series of inhalation/exhalation cycles, but interrupted at regular intervals by a single, long inhalation/exhalation, which is different from the others which precede and follow it. This "long" breath is pleasurable and characterised by a feeling of fullness and a feeling that a valve is opening and admitting air to additional areas of lung not otherwise accessed.
The puzzle is why texts I've seen relating to respiration studies and problems, don't refer to this important episode in the breathing cycle. My wife and friends don't recognise its existence, although I recall noticing it in my brothers while they slept as kids.
Can anybody here confirm the existence of this "long breath"; then at least I'll know I'm not from some other planet.
Check out www.holotropic.com about their holotropic breathing. You will find the key to all answers in Dr. Grof's "Adventure of Self Discovery". Down further in these postings you will find "The Secret Disease" which is involved here. There's official secrecy involved here.
