I've actually spoken to the doctors who have been working on
this. The pancreatic cell transplant requires far less anti-
rejection drugs than the only option up to now, which has
been a full pancreas+kidney transplant. In the new technique
they transplant Islets of Langerhans into the liver. Another
advantage is that they may be able to use a single donor
pancreas for several recipients.

(If I recall correctly Tim Bolen doesn't write the Bolen
Report - the guy that authors the vitamin c foundation does)
How can Hulda cure type one diabetes if all the insulin
producing cells are dead? Maybe you can source a reference
showing that the cells are dead or just 'not working'? Anth

Think of it like this - the treatment is on a whole
experimental, not all doctors will know about it. People
reading in here would probably go and take some 'quack' cure
for diabetes, this thing offers them some real hope, with
prospects of them being off insulin and leading a normal
life albeit on anti rejection drugs. Anth

No, people would probably take insulin, or, in the case of
type 2 diabetes, might try to control it via diet and weight
management. Anyone who tries to do it via quack cures is apt
to wind up as a statistic.

to be more specific...it is a transplant of the beta cells
of the pancreas...the fact that they were injected into
the liver is not the issue..
the beta cells come from the pancreas...
sorta like a pancreas transplant hawki.....
