  2. Supposedly came into the prologue yesterday under the weather, and just exerted himself too much .......... rumor is he is going to drop out ........

He worked really hard in the Giro, and it just might have been too much, too early.

I think they said he was ill the day before the prologue.
Illness would have to explain it because I do not think his
hard efforts in the Giro and training would crack him hours
into an event he expected to last three weeks.

He certainly received a lot of positive comments from the
commentators on RAI for his tenacity in the mountains. He
always fought hard to get back after being dropped.

I guess it is his back:

"My back is rough... I couldn't feel my legs today, I
couldn't get any power out of them. I hurt it last
weekend and it's been on and off ever since," explained
    McGee post-stage.

He also said (on cyclingnews.com) that his form isn't quite
there and he's a bit light (which I take to mean
underweight). Thinks he's lost some flatout power in order
to improve his climbing. His quote was something on the
order of, "Maybe I should qive up on this climbing stuff and
    conscentrate on my pursuiting.. chuckle".

I seriously hope not. I very much enjoy watching McGee race.
I don't think these rumors are true. He'll probably get over
what ever he has. Although, if I were in his cycling shoes,
I'd be more concerned with the Olympics than the Tour.

By losing something like 6 minutes on a stage where most of
    the field came in together?

He's putting himself in good position for stage wins.

latest news, he was seen by the tour doctor last night and
this morning and should be ok for today's stage

If you look at McGee's lower back in the stage today there
is a bulge which is possibly ice or a 'pommade' to help the
    pain from yesterday's crash

I guess McGee should watch France 2 before he goes around
    giving quotes.
