This may seem like a dumb question .. but some of the bike stores here in town the guys working there dont know much..so the question is on one of my wheels it has a sealed bearing... I have it all apart..and just need to replace it with another sealed bearing..can this be done ? cuz I know the bike shop will tell me I have to buy a whole new hub...but it is just the bearing that need replacing...so can they sell me just the bearing sealed ? and how much should they cost on average....The one bike store in town that was any good shut down after 25 years.

It's probably 80% likely that the bearing is a common unit which can be had from a bearing supply house. If there's a 4-digit number on it like 6000, perhaps with some letters (typically ZZ), it's even possible that you might find a replacement at an auto parts store. It's worth a shot, at the very least, if the lbs doesn't have a useful answer.
If you have dimensions, the replacement may be available here:
Any bearing can be replace and we will gladly do it for you. Be careful at Bearing and Transmission, many of their bearings are cheaper than at a shop, but some of the odd metric ones are even more expensive. For the record, our shop would never tell you that you need a new hub if all it needed was a bearing, and that is one of the benefits of sealed cartridge bearing hubs is that they last for so long. Check us out if you want staight answers and honesty. It never costs to take a look at it.

There is a number on your bearing seal. An automotive electric shop ( someone who services alternators, etc) will have it or can get it.
