Hard question to answere. When the PTap is working, it's great. The customer service has been great. But it is getting a bit rediculous. (I haven't had any problems with the hub itself...)
In all honesty, I would still buy one, but get two wiring harnesses, so that if one goes out, you can imediately switch over to a new one. Graber will honor the warranty and send a new one quickly. I think this is the approach I'm going to take.
I can't figure out why the harnesses go bad (presumably, neither can Graber!). I've heard some say they have had the same problem, and some who've never had a problem.
You guys are some unbelievable customers. You go out and spend nearly 1000 dollars on a product that clearly hasn't been thoroughly tested and still maintain that it's "great when it works". I've had my Power Tap Pro for about six months now and I'm on my third wheel and second computer. The customer service leaves much to be desired.
Some things to consider: when you wheel and/or computer goes bad, and it will, you get to pay the shipping at about 30 bucks a shot for the wheel. They won't call you when they receive it and won't have more than a few weeks range of when it will get back to you--and when it's on the way, they won't tell you. Nice, huh? Sure, you'll often catch some nice service guys on the phone, but come on...
I do like mine, when it works-- but I missed 2.5 months waiting for a known defective part to be replaced in my wheel. I say hold your money until some competition gets out there and forces some improvements--it's the only thing that ever does.
Good luck.
