Soft Tissue Woes

I'm having issues on the soft tissue up front - saddle sores. EXTREMELY PAINFUL! I would love for more advice to stop this! I

I have had this problem too in the past. Last season I purchased a pair of Pearl Uzimi Ultra Sensor shorts that made the biggest difference ever. (They had the BLUE chamois pad) I also purchased the Ti Butterfly "gellisma" saddle, made by Terry. The combination of those two solved the problem of the "injury" I would experience in the soft tissue area. One note about the shorts: The first pair I bought I thought I was bringing home from the bike shop the women's shorts. But when I got home I saw the label said Men's. I was going to take them back, but I liked the design of the chamois pad and tried them. What a difference these shorts made!!! They have a channel in the front part of the short, unlike the women's model of this same short. I then ordered a second pair from Performance. Right now they are on sale for $69.00. I just ordered my husband a pair of these and they came in time for our weeklong bicycling tour in Indiana that we just completed. Over and over again while we were riding all-day long rides, he kept telling me they are the best, most comfortable shorts. And I had to agree with him, as I too have found they are just super shorts. But I do believe the Terry saddle has contributed also to the solving of the problem with soft tissue injury. I found the only time that I felt a burning or discomfort in the soft tissue area was when I was doing very steep long climbs. But after the climbs the discomfort eased and didn't ever bother me after any rides. Unlike in the past -- when the soft tissue would be so chafed and sore it even made voiding painfull for days. P.S. I do use Vaseline everytime I put the short on just as an added protection.

I agree with SaraBikes...a saddle with a cutout such as Terry has done the trick for me! I use the San Marco Aero saddle (same idea-it has a cutout). The saddle, a great pair of shorts and assos chamois creme for 50+mile rides and I have no soft tissue pain!

BTW-Terry cycles makes great shorts and bras! The bras have enough support and ventilation-worth it on very hot days when you need both without drawing too much attention to oneself 😉

AHA! I saw Lance smearing "chamois creme" on his shorts yesterday, and he wouldn't mention the name of the manufacturer. The commentator asked him, "Why, are they not sponsoring you?" He said no they're not, but he's had enough problems down there without having any more. He was having trouble not long ago, and he finally started using this chamois creme. He says it cleared up all his problems.

I could see it was in a white container, and now I see this Assos looks the same. Not only this, on the website, it brags about Lance using it even though they don't pay him. It looks like one of the keys is that it kills bacteria on the chamois.

Thanks for mentioning this name. It was the additional hint I needed for curing my saddle sores. Now I have to get the seat and better chamois shorts as well.

Thanks for everyone's advice - I bought a new Terry Saddle (Butterfly X) and started using Assos Chamois Creme. Now I have no problems! Yay! You all saved my (riding) butt! Thanks again =)
