Compact frame sizeing

Sounds like the guy knows nothing. I would be reluctant to
spend that much on a bike without a fit program check, or at
the very least talking to someone who sells road racing
bikes for a living and knows what will fit (my LBS has an
entire floor for road bikes and a dedicated road race
specialist).

You probably don't live in a huge state with a population
under 1 million, Montana. I did find what I needed

I used my own fingers. The frames they call "compact frames"
run big if you size them like a frame with a horizontal top
tube but if you imagine where a horizontal tube would end up
under your but the numbers match....OR, the sloped tube
bikes are sized as if an invisible horizontal tube is there.
The point is a smaller, stronger, lighter frame. I picked up
the bike today and love it! TG

Glad you like the bike -- maybe they'll have a sale on
senses of humor next week! 🙂

My only point about Lemonds was this: my choice came down to
a Klein Q-carbon Team and the entry-level ti Lemond (both
compact frames). I bought a 55-cm Klein, whereas the equivalent-
feeling Lemond was a 53. You indicated that you thought a
57-cm LM was way too big, and since you're 5'8" I would tend
to agree. (I'm 5-10, btw.)

Did you get the 57???

This is true. I live in a town of roughly 200,000
population. which is 40 miles from London. We are very
unusual in having a newly-refurbished velodrome.

However...

Plenty of smaller bike shops have bike fit measuring
systems.
