This is the latest in several studies that show a benefit
from cinnamon. Several people here and in
alt.support.diabetes have started taking cinnamon, though
most have not been on it long enough to get definite results
- and at least one person reported the glucose levels got
worse. So instead of taking it for granted that it will
work, one must still monitor glucose levels to see how it
affects YOU. For myself, I started taking it a week ago, so
it's a bit early to say one way or the other. The study you
refer to reported results after 40 days. One should also
remember that "up to" represents the best case, not the
typical case. But even a 10% improvement would be
significant.

Yeah, I heard it. I tried it. It raised my BG, so I had to
stop taking it.

_Consumer Reports_, which is very "establishment"
healthwise, pointed out a study which indicated that the
effective dosage of insulin was 1 gram/day. This would
correspond to 1/4 teaspoon, as 1 teaspoon of water is just
under 5 grams.
Of course, YMMV.

1 tsp a day of cinnamon pushed my blood sugar down, but it
raised my blood pressure unacceptably high. The spike was
always about 2 hours after I took the cinnamon.
After more than a month I also started to see very high
spikes at an hour after eating carbs followed by a low an
hour later. The highs were far higher than I would usually
see eating the same food.
I also experimented with the extract, as there is another
study that suggested it lowered blood pressure. It did NOT
lower it for me.
Though the short term results were encouraging, the long
term results were not.
Needs more study. . . .

It would if you could stand the stink of that stuff Mike.
Personally, I'd puke all over the breather in about, say....
half a second:-)
And it does buggar all to lower BG either.

I am at goal weight. Think we need to lower it about 10 more
to get into a safer BMI. I am at moderate zone now. I do not
have blood pressure machine, so have to reply on Wal-Mart.
It has been running great. Betty.
