Looks like I get two trips to the central Idaho Mtns. In addition to AMB-ID in McCall, we are headed to Yellow Pine from July 3-7, and then I'll be in McCall the 7-11 or so. The Yellow Pine deal is a boating rendezvous, but of course I am taking my bike. I know it's waaaay out there ;-) any chance one of you guys wants to help me explore biking in Yellow Pine, or hookup in McCall?
Or, do you know of any trails up towards YP? If not, I'll do my usual forest circus trail guide combined with map study search mission...

Alex wants to pre-ride our McCall course on the 10th. I'll still inaccessible on vacation. You guys could hook up with Adam, maybe the beep-beep road runner gMan, and Jim set-the- Pace. Who knows, a pre-epic epic day??

Jim Set the Pace will most likely be out on the S FK Salmon with Craig and the boys. 7-10 ought to work to pre ride the trail. I need to see what time the boaters want me to pick them up in Riggins (Vinergar Creek) Hopefully it's late in the day.
I emailed Adam... can you get me in touch with the others?

Here's how I find trails in the middle of nowhere: first, I look in my Idaho guide book. Nada. Then I look up the USFS website to see about trail listings and cross reference what, if any they have listed with what's in my gazetter for that state. Then, I call each ranger district to talk to the recreation director. Usually they have the beta on what's been opened and maintained, what's suitable and so on. Sometimes they have a little trail guide for that forest. The Deschutes NF (Bend) is the only forest that has decent trail information on their website. A lot of work, eh?

YP's beautiful. How I find trails is let the local talent take me out in exchange for refreshments and worn-out stories afterwards.
I'll email you the usual suspects' email addresses so you guys can hook up in McCall.
