I've been cycling my 1st nexus 8 equipped bike for just over a month now. Really enjoy it and havent missed the other 20 or so gears the old bike had.
However, a few of the gears are making clicking noises. (3rd, 4th, 7th & 8th)
I have the yellow lines lined up in 4th gear although it doesnt seem very precise getting them aligned as they seem to misalign themselves at times.
Does this sound like anything major or something daft? I'd take it to the bike shop although my suspision is they dont really know whatto do with this system.

I have a 7-speed nexus on my tandem. Some of the gears have a clicking sound, like a Sturmey-Archer three-speed had, but I think that is normal.
I also noticed a slight misalignment, but that is probably due to break-in; things get settled in their long-term positions, and you need to adjust a bit.
Thanks for the reassurance David, still sounds odd to me. If it was a derailluer then I'd definitely know it was misaligned as I guess I could see it!
ALso I noticed today that the gears which click feel a bit rough (I can feel it through the pedals) but the ones which dont click feel really smooth. Coincidence?

In my Nexus-7, all the odd numbered gears feel a bit rough (espcially 3th gear), and the even numbered are smooth. I have read others complain about this too, and as far as I understand, it is a "feature" of the Nexus-7 hub. I have been planning to get a new bike with Nexus-8 hub, and was hoping that this feature would have been fixed, but apparently it is still there 🙁

You can add me to the list of Nexus 7 users with 'rough' gears. I was under the impression that Nexus 8 was supposed to be better and have less rolling resistance too. I was thinking of upgrading my bike to Nexus 8. Now I am thinking I should wait unless I can get a really, really good deal. -------------- Alex

I've had a play around and have discovered that even though the yellow dots are alledgely centred you can still move the barrel adjuster quite a bit and it still wont move. I've turned it round about 5 rotations and the gears feel quite a bit smoother now.
