  1. Sorry if I've missed the time, date and location of this
great event, but at the moment I've been working away so
I've missed a lot of the discussion.

I need to know by Sunday (tomorrow) night, where and when.

Last I heard was on the 10/11th July, Carneddau. Where's the
campsite co-ordinates and I'll be happy.

    Cheers,

    Jhimmy.

Only a handful of people have expressed interest so far. I'm
happy with that date. How about the others? Could you make
it on any other dates in July?

No idea of the campsite yet (the person who originally
suggested the Carneddau did specify one but I can't remember
where exactly) but that should be easy enough to sort once
    the date is fixed.

I could make it on that weekend or a later one in July.

There are a couple of campsites on the A5 between Capel
Curig and Idwal Cottage Youth Hostel. They're marked on the
1:50k and 1:25K OS maps, IIRC.

I have camped at one of them on a couple of occasions. It's
my sort of "formal" site - flushing toilet and hot shower.
Nowt else. (I can't remember which of the sites it was but I
do remember deciding to walk to the other one because I
didn't like the look of the first one.)

I have also stayed at Idwal Cottage YH and I seem to
remember that they allow camping too..... but they have
    goats which eat anything.

Do people want a formal site ?

That's usually how it's done, more convenient for the
majority. There's usually more interest than this in the
    July expedition.

I believe it was the eastern Carneddau that were suggested
with a campsite in the Conwy valley I think.

Yes please. It'll reduce dissention in the Coombs
    family ranks.

  6. Hello All,

Well it's my little sisters Graduation on Tuesday 13th July
at Bangor. I was planning a trip to Snowdonia with a few
friend for the 10th - 12th July. So if the next Expedition
is that weekend I'll see you all up there, if not your more
than welcome to join us anyway. I guess it will be a little
on the easy side for some of the more dedicated walkers out
there as a couple of my friends are not the most active ;o)
I was planning a trip up Snowdon (never been up before)
possible via Crib Goch on the Saturday, and then something
else on Sunday I think they'll be heading back Sunday
afternoon, but I'm there for Monday too.

Do we yet know exactly when it will be though? We need to
know because of arranging to have time off work etc.

<Knock knock> Is anyone there? Do we have a date yet?

I thought there was some agreement on 10/11 July

    There was another thread called:

That seems to be OK with us. I'd better tell the children
at some stage so they can get their whining out of the way
    beforehand. Where are we going?

Wales - or was it Scotland?

The top one is cursed in some way. The first time we stayed
there we got the tent out and found the poles had fused
together (old style solid poles with the smaller sections
storing inside the biggest one), another time the car
wouldn't start, and the third time we lost a hat and a jack
russell peed on my rucksack. Never been there since.

Could've been worse. You could have lost a rucksack and had
a Jack Russell pee on your hat.

Yes, 10/11th July is the only date that I have seen
suggested. As that date is getting close I think we should
agree that we are going somewhere then. It's probably harder
to agree the date and arrange the time off work than it is
to agree on somewhere to go.

Some, but not all. Phil Cook suggested a later date, and
someone else who said he'd only be able to make it later in
    the month IIRC.

Well given the general lack of enthusiasm, let's agree on
the 10th then, yes? (which would be the 9th-11th)

    So who's in so far?

Is that right? Is that all?

I am not sure as yet but you can count me as a possible or
    even as a probable.

One that is cheap, midge free and close to a pub. :-)

I'm not lacking in enthusiasm for this date, but I am
lacking in availability! I hope a good time is had by
all, and that I'll be able to come along to another
    expedition (presumably next year).

Who was it who suggested the Carneddau in the first place?
And more to the point, which camp site did you suggest?
