Mine come shrink-wrapped from Canada. I use sparingly. I'm wondering if it helps or hinders to leave the unused portion of the cucumber in the shrink wrap? I've noticed that after a few days the cucumber in the shrink wrap becomes mushy and slimy in places. Would the cucumber last a couple more days if taken out of the shrink wrap.

We use a lot of those cucumbers. Remove the shrink wrap carefully, but place a piece of it over the cut end. And eat the cucumber in a couple of days! They are available all year round; no need to hoard them.

Mine seems to keep better out of the shrink wrap, but I bag it in green produce bags. Seems to keep better open, not sealed and pretty dry inside. Edrena

I leave mine in the shrink wrap, put a baggie over the cut end, and rubberband it on. The cucumber usually lasts at least a week in the vegetable drawer.
I get it out almost every night and put a few slices on our dinnertime salads.
I'm pretty careful about picking through the cucumbers at the store to make sure I get a good one--firm at both ends, not banged up. I wonder if your cucumbers are bruised and therefore go mushy in spots under the shrink wrap.

Thanks, Cindy. Mine last about that long. They are in pretty good shape leaving the store; just wondering if the shrink wrap helped or hindered. When they first showed up in our stores they were $2.99 apiece; now they're around .99 cents which makes worrying about the shring wrap not that critical.
