  1. Well, my new Lab puppy really loves running along with me on
our country roads. Unfortunately, she likes other things
about the TT as well- the plastic covers on the bar end
shifters, to be exact. She whiled away a few minutes chewing
on them to the point where they were almost falling off.
They're ruined, so I just took them off and the shifters are
now bare, which is a minor gripe, to be sure, but an
annoyance. Can anyone lead me in the direction of
replacement bar end shifter covers? So far, it looks like
I'd have to buy new shifters, which is not gonna happen. If
anyone has any old bar end's laying around, I'd gladly buy
    them for the covers.

    tia,

Here's the new Rumsfeld Defense: "I am accountable. But the
little guys were responsible. I was just giving orders."

    Thomas Friedman

Friedman is the sort of SOB who will stab you in the back
    when you aren't looking.

Rumsfeld gives a perfectly logical explanation of the way
things work and then someone with a pea size brain calls it
a "defense". He does not need any defense. Maybe Rich
similarly expects the President to know all the details of
his administration too. Carter was a detail man and we all
know where that got us. He was probably the worst President
this country has ever been saddled with.

You know, Ed, I rather like the look of bar-end shifters
without the covers, and I've converted two older bikes to
use the bar-end ones and I have to have a couple of pair
lying around which I would have let this dude have. Until I
    read that clever sig.

I suppose he pines for the days of Less Aspirin as
    SecDef, huh?

Now I recall where I first encountered this particular fool
before. It was when he was appending nefarious remarks about
good old Joe McCarthy of Wisconsin that had nothing to do
with the body of his post. I see he is still doing the same
thing - appending a political remark which has nothing to do
with the body of his post. That is what this newsgroup ARBR
used to be full of before I showed up to restore the
balance. Thankfully, there is very little of it anymore.

The one thing I feel bad about is that I somehow confused
this fool Rich Westerman with Curtis Russell of Maryland and
thought he was the guilty party. He has never done this sort
of thing as far as I know, and so I do apologize to him for
ever having accused him of it. Russell and I now have other
issues between us, but he never did what this Rich Westerman
    character does.

I had almost forgotten about poor Les Aspin, the Secretary
of Defense under Clinton for a very brief time. He was a
mixed commodity. Some things he did were not all that bad,
but he was mostly wrongheaded about most things. The
Secretary of Defense, because of the kind of world we are
living in, is the most important cabinet position and is
always a critical appointment for the President. Who gives a
damn about the Secretary of State. The Secretary of Defense
relates directly to the safety and security of every
American. Of course, if we can have good Secretary of State
so much the better, but we had best well have a damn good
    Secretary of Defense.

I believe Les Aspin was never in the best of health when he
served and that he died shortly after he left the position
    of a stroke.

Leave it to Mr. Sherman to miss the point of the post, which
is that if you are soliciting something it is best not to
make an extraneous political comment. But this Rich
Westerman just can't help himself because he is basically a
liberal idiot. They never know when to shut up.
