black and decker handy chopper which I use for pesto. It
works fine, is
easy to clean, simple to operate and I have had it for
many years.

What will you be using it for? I have the Cuisinart Mini-
Prep (I think it's the DLC-2A) and like it for most small
chopping jobs, herbs, nuts, making tapenade, etc. Does
NOT work for making something into a puree which I
learned the hard way last week. Shoulda brought out the
blender for that one.

I have a Black & Decker that I like very much. It chops
small amounts much quicker than I could.

Whatever you do, DON'T buy a Hamilton Beach anything. Years
ago, they used to be a good brand, but they've become
shoddy goods.

Costs $20 ($15 less than the Cuisinart) at BB&B or Linens

I read that the Mini-Prep model I'm looking at has a
dual blade which you can switch around to do both
chopping and making purees. I'd want to do both ... I

Hi Steve I had a Braun blender wand but it cracked near the
head and leaked internal grease after a year or so. How
long have you had yours? I'm wary to buy another wand
...but maybe it was an isolated case. Braun is usually a
good brand - I have their toaster and coffee grinder .. no
problems there. The other thing about the wand is that I
found it hard to clean behind the blade -- kind of had to
shimmy your fingers and sponge behind there. It may be
different now ... comments?

It cracked because you dropped or abused it. Clean
immediately after use by blending an ice cube. I've had mine
for over 4 yrs.

Mt brain is easy to clean and has lasted 5 years or so now.
I just stained it the other night by blending some hot
enchilada sauce though - never do that.

For the chopper attachment you don't even use the wand/blade
attachment, just the motor. FWIW.

I had a great mini-chopper for years... but the bowl
finally fell apart (yes, the motor was still going strong).
I couldn't replace it with the exact model and the product
isn't widely available anymore, so I now have a
Toastmaster. I got the least expensive one I could fine and
I'm perfectly happy with it. I've had it for at least 3
years and there are no problems yet. My only complaint is
that the blade isn't as low as my old Moulinex, but it
looks just like the one in your picture... so I guess
that's what they're making these days. I would have bought
one with a lower blade profile, if I had found it when I
was shopping for a mini-chopper.

Yeah - that's close to one I have. My chopper attachment
seems taller/bigger, and doesn't have the sissy whip
attachment. It's 250 watts instead of 300.

I've got two wands - Proctor/Silex is the other one and it's
a real PITA to use. Button is in an awkward position and
hard to keep down.

Looks like that thing is retailing for $60-$90 bucks - ouch!
Mine was only $21 at Circuit City, back in 1999.

Looks like mine is the MR 440, which retails for $20. much
less than that other model with the extra 50 watts.

It's still pretty powerful. I use it to make liverwurst.
