Recommendations for Toaster Oven?

I, too would be interested to know. I traditionally have
always disliked the toaster oven for a "million" reasons,
but recently but my ordinary toaster was creating uneven
toasting. I am reconsidering my position!

Not off hand, but for a modest fee, you can look up the
information yourself via Consumer Reports' web site.

I can't help with you the Consumer Reports except that
libraries usually have the print version. I can tell you
that our $75 Krups broke about 3 months after the warrantee
ran out and can't be repaired for less than $75. We replaced
it with the cheapest thing we found at Walmart, a Rival. It
has its idiosyncrasies and hot spots, but it works well
enough for our purposes.

I did happen to see a possible replacement on some food show
but I didn't get the details because I was doing something
else at the moment. They were using an oven that had a very
fast heat up cycle and looked like it used a quartz lamp. My
(small) pet peeve about toaster ovens is that they take a
long time to heat up and I made a mental note to find a fast
heating model when a replacement is needed.

Personally, I don't trust CR. Every time I read a report
about something I already know about, it confirms my
conclusion that they use irrelevant criteria.

In the old days, when I was into audio, I first learned that
they know nothing. More recently, knowing about coffee, I
read their report and conclude that they still know nothing.
I haven't read any reports on grilling equipment, but I
expect I'd get a good chuckle out of it.

Too often, their conclusions should read "Since we don't
know what to look for, we are unable to discern the
differences between these products, so we recommend you buy
the cheapest piece of [censored] that has lots of bells and
whistles".

I should have subscribed to them for the big $20 that gets
you the annual guide. Their site is great info but a pain
and brings back bad memories. I was subscribing for $3 per
month, and wanted to cancel, but they delayed in removing
my charge. This caused all kinds of headaches and late
fees with my credit card company that's still a sore point
to this day.

I replaced my toaster oven with a 1.6 cu ft combination
microwave/convection oven and a 2 slice toaster. My old
toaster oven (GE) didn't toast worth a damn. And my range
convection oven was a tad too small for those family get
together holiday meals. So now I got the best of 2 worlds.
Enough oven capacity for holiday cooking and a countertop
oven for daily use. And reasonable tasting toast for in
the morning.

The turkey, ham, or crown pork roast goes in the range oven
(with maybe one side dish) and 2 other side dishes can go
(stacked) in the combo oven. This works for the holidays.

For daily use the smaller one person casseroles, chicken
dishes, pasta bake or leftovers go in the cheaper to run
combo microwave oven.

I've got a $45.00 Krups toaster - looks all nice and Euro -
pretty, but for toasting it's the [censored]......

Definitely. Some time ago, they had an article rating
computers. The article was full of misinformation, including
outright misdefined terms. They gave the wrong definition
for "baud," for heaven's sake. I sent them a long letter
(polite, at least most of it was) pointing out their errors.

They actually responded, but nowhere did they address a
single one of their errors.

I have a friend who owned a hardware store for a couple of
decades. He used to get a laugh about their equipment
ratings (lawn mowers, etc.)--not just because he sold them,
but because he repaired them, too, all models.
