I have a problem coming up, one that looks potentially
disruptive to my BG control.
I have two weeks (or longer) of jury duty and I am required
to spend eight hours per day in a courtroom with just a
meal break where I have to purchase food from a
conventional cafe/bistro menu. There is almost nothing that
I can see that will allow me to measure carbs, fats, etc.,
nor to avoid carbs.
The only thing that I can think of is to take tinned foods,
fish, ham, casseroles, plus hard boiled eggs etc. They do
not have a refrigeration facility available to jurors where
I can take and leave prepared meals.
Any suggestions?
I thought about getting out of it, but that isn't a very
responsible attitude to take.

Hi David
Any ideas of the available menu? No need to measure, just
use your best guesstimate.
Some thoughts:
Garden Salad, carry your own small bottle of dressing. Mine
is olive oil, balsamic, herbs, pepper. Cold meats. Battered
fish or fish pieces, peel off the batter if the carbs or oil
are a problem. Kebabs (gyros type, low fat), leave most of
the Pita bread. I can handle a half-kebab. Watch the sauce -
usually the tabouli is OK. If it's a restaurant/bistro, you
usually have no difficulty specifying "no chips, salad only"
or just order the salad alone. Roast with veges, leave the
starch on the plate, eat the meat, peas, cauli, broccoli,
cabbage, a few carrots. Steamed Dim Sims with a little soy
sauce don't seem to spike me. A sandwich, leave half the
bread. Find another juror on a diet and share :-)
Cheers, Alan, T2 d&e, Australia. Remove weight and
carbs to email.
