The terrain is unfogiving from Rhinog Fach northwards. The
southern bit is quite gentle apparently, so Y Llethr and
Diffwys should not present a problem. I think the usual
starting point is from the valley to the west. Difficult to
park and I think the farmer charges for the privilege.

If travelling from Rhinog Fawr towards R. Fach, the easiest
way down to the col (Bwlch Drws Ardudwy) strikes off
significantly east of a direct line and reaches the bwlch in
a sort of easterly loop. There are paths, some of which have
the odd rock step. A direct line to the bwlch is not
recommended - you'll get involved in big boulders, tall
heather and lots of non-obvious holes to fall into.

From the bwlch there is a more or less direct route up
Rhinog Fach (path of sorts).

From Fach the way is much clearer - though still rough until
you get on Y Llethr. As Paul says, it is easy from there.

Just been there two days ago... the decent from Rhinog Fach
to the bwylch hard going to say the least (mind you I was
doing it in rain and fog !!!)

A very steep but straight forward path from the top of the
bwylch (hopefully this is where you decended to) but
straight forward to navigate to take you to the summit of
Rhinog Fach Easier decent down to col before ascent to Y
llethr and you can follow the wall from then on to Diffwys
continue on to SH 648 228 Then take a bearing to the left
edge of the reservoir (cross bridge there) and then a really
easy stroll back to the car.

I parked the car at the top of Cwn Nantcol. Farm there so
the car would be ok (sometimes there is a charge but there
was no one about that day) (SH 641
270)

I have the route on anquet route if you need it.
