  1. Results from the Hengelo meet are in.

Webb ran 3:33.7, 8th fastest American all time, 4th place,
0.18 behind Bernard Lagat. Apparently, there was a massive
kicking battle, with the top 5 places separated by 0.6
second. El Guerrouj scratched from this race a few days ago,
but right now an American miler is as good as anyone in the
world, for maybe the first time since Steve Scott was in his
prime. There could be the first ever sub-3:50 mile on US
    soil in the Pre Classic.

In the same meet, Kenenisa Bekele broke the world record in
    the 5000, with a time of 12:37.35.

    Woah! That's 3.1 miles at a 4:03 pace!

I'm glad Webb has finally got it together. It must be a
black art to get into top-of-the-world shape.

He was doing poorly awhile ago, what changed?

Really? didn't El G run 3:49:92 at the 2001 Pre Classic?

What about his buddy who ran the last 5000 of his 10000 in

  6. Theres an interesting book "Sub 4:00" about Webbs
disappointing years at UM. Gives insight into Olympic
class training programs. Glad to see he is emerging from
    his setbacks.

  7. That is a huge run from Webb and Bekele of course! Not bad
from Kipchoge to win the 1500m too as how old is he? 19?

Well, get this.... He ran through 3K in 7:37. AND THEN: He
runs the last 2K in 5:00. That's FIVE LAPS of 60.00 AFTER he
    ran a world class 3000!

He might not be in top shape yet. He lost to a 3:26 guy by
0.18 sec. We'll get a better idea at Bislett in 2 weeks.

Webb's view, in an interview published a few days ago, is
consistent training. Established location, same coach, etc.
He got over the injury problems he had at Michigan.
Personally, I'd love to hear about his training, but
they're (Webb and his coach) not talking as far as I know
    (shades of Aouita?).
