Just curious... how long do most of you keep a helmet that you use regularly?
More importantly, how long before one should actually change a helmet for age?
Thanks for your time and responses.

I think most helmet manufacturers recommend replacing your helmet every 2-years. The primary reason is that the structural integrity of the polystyrene is said to break down in sunlight so I'm assuming if you keep your helmet indoors and don't subject it to direct sunlight other than when you're riding, you can probably get more use out of it. I have to say at the price of the upper end helmets, I can't afford to replace mine every 2-years.
🙂
I asked the same question elsewhere.
Here is the thread in response.

Seems 2-3 years is the recommendation.
