We're having the worst lightning and thunderstorm I can remember. It's so bad the cat has buried herself beneath the throw on the chaise in the bedroom. The thunder is really cool. It just rolls on and on. It sounds like Missouri is at war with Illinois. It's raining like hell. I was going to do burgers and brats on the grill with some corn on the cob, cole slaw and roasted potatoes. I dunno if I want to dart back and forth under those huge pin oaks in the back yard. Oh [censored]... here comes the hail.

Duck and cover, Michael! That is *not* a good sign.

What part of town are you in? It got very dark here at work, but I didn't go look out the window. I hope we didn't get big hail in north county, I don't need to go through all that with the insurance company again.

I live in Glendale, it is in the middle of Kirkwood, Webster, Ladue and Brentwood. Did you get anything up North? We got hammered. The cable and electricity went out for a couple of hours. My garden got pulverized and then it rained, hard, for the rest of the evening. Reminds me of '93 or '94 when it did this for weeks on end and the Mississippi flooded. I helped sand bag River Des Peres back then and took soup to the volunteers.

I've been watching a lot of flooding and tornado stories on the news and I was wondering, hey, how are you all doing out there? Not a peep. I'll keep you in my thoughts, and sorry about your garden, Michael.

I remember that flooding. We were visiting our daughter (then living in University City/St. Louis) and it was a shock to see a stop sign in what looked like the middle of the Mississippi.
Everything OK at your end? We had quite a storm last night, and another rolled through this morning

3 hours NNE of Michael we had 2 funnel clouds spotted. No hail though, thankfully.

I hope the worst is over. The past couple of days have really sucked. From the Doppler today it looks like Brian's part of town may have gotten some nastiness this afternoon. The storm was moving northward on the radar.

Well, it may have settled down a bit. I guess some areas of Chicago have really gotten hit. Thanks for your thoughts. I think the garden will survive since it's so early in the year. I don't know about all of my lillies though. Especially the Orientals and my beloved Stargazers.

Got some heavy rain again this afternoon. Nothing like yesterday. Brian, I had my favorite contractor out and the insurance agent. Not much damage to the roof but one of the skylights cracked, big time. It started leaking late this afternoon and a ceiling fan is pretty close to it. It's always something.
Huge trees were down this morning. My 8 minute drive to work took almost 2 hours.
