My garage contains an ONCE team bike. I don't have any other
modern racing bikes to compare it with, but I thought it was
not quite as responsive as my GT, and it was also a lot more
unstable. It fits my 5'11" frame well, though, and it's
comfortable to ride.

I love the look of the new giants but I dont like how the rear wheel gets so close to the seat tube on the TCR it looks kind of unnerving.

you'll find the carbon bikes are stiff and responsive ...
yet have the carbon ride ... I still like Ti better, but
they are the best riding carbon bikes I have ridden.

I've been largely happy with a Colnago Dream+, though my
backup (for rotten weather) is a GT Edge, which rides very
well and I was somewhat reluctant to stop riding once
clear weather returned, leaving a steel bike to return to
stiff aluminum.

I bought a TCR Composite in late-August 2003. While shopping
for a new bike, I never considered the Giant brand. After a
sales rep suggested I compare it to the Trek 5200 and 5500,
I did and immediately dropped my CC on the Giant. 4,000
miles later I have no complaints. It provides fantastic,
satisfying ride.

I've been riding Giants for about 5 years now on the road
and have owned several of them. Continuing this year with
the newer version of the carbon TCR. I like them a lot.
Stiff and responsive, at least in the medium sized frame,
light, and cheap (for bikes of the same weight and quality
level). I've never had the handling issues others have
reported, so I'm not sure what's going on there. I feel that
this bike that I'm currently riding, the TCR Composite 2004
edition is super responsive, and not unstable at all. Same
as all of my other Giants in year's past. This one goes
uphill quite nice, sprints really well, and is comfortable
on the long hauls. I would recommend them. They do need to
"fit" you right though. As they only offer limited sizes
(due to large tooling costs for the molding of the frames) I
don't think that they fit all people all of the time. With
that said, if it fits you good (like mine does), they are
good racing bikes. NO doubt about it.

ride the freds always want to touch my bike, and
sometimes I'll slap their hand and say "don't touch." so
I might have to bring my fredly trek 5200 to the fred
rides. does that sound reasonable to you?

bikes. Dropped about $12K on it. I doubt we'll see that one

moment it's out of your sight, it would disappear.
