  1. HEllo i just started to get back into cycling racing. I like to do mt bike xcountry as well as road racing.

Whats the best way to train for cycling in regards to ways to get fast, how to recovery, .
I would like weekly step by step plan or examples, anyone out ther eto help me?

as well i like to lift weights as well, can anyone help me out on a bike program in which i can include all my cycling and a weight program combined for my training.

Any one out there willing to help me?

    thank you

  2. Last year I tried an experiment which involved plenty of gym work and riding.I raced B grade. It made me strong for sprints and driving on flat roads but I lost out on anything more rolling terrain because I was a few kilos heavier than ideal. I found it quite hard to lose the extra weight too.
I ditched the weight training and now spend much more time on the bike which has proven to be beneficial. I now ride A grade. I am about 5 kilos lighter at good race weight and I still have plenty of strength. Though my sprint has suffered mainly due to the increased road miles and endurance work.

I follow a "take it as it comes" strategy, working to fairly general guidelines.
I spend the majority of the early season doing longer rides with no higher than tempo intensity. And I add intensity later in the form of regular races and hard group rides. Generally I have no trouble with motivation to ride hard in racing but have difficulty raising the bar on my own for intervals and the like.
For me a hard week would usualy involve more sheer volume of training than anything else because it's endurance that is the primary thing that a roadie will need (particularly for me since I am only in my second year of racing).
