  1. I must say, since I've been cycling, I've spoken to more
    strangers than ever.

First, a few weeks ago, it was the fat guy in his 60s
outside Lidl, who had found most of his bike dumped at the
side of the road, and who had found the rest of it dumped in
a skip, who was reliving his youth by cycling far and wide.
Interesting guy, who regaled me with tales of long-gone
    cyclists and bike shops.

Next was the guy who I followed for about a mile on the Taff
Trail because it turned out that his natural speed was
exactly the same as mine. I finally felt I should shout out
that I wasn't stalking him, and pulled up alongside. We
chatted about this and that for the next 5 miles or so, a
nice change for us both, until we parted at Taff's Well.

Today, on the train back from Barry Island (this time, I
went via the Taff Trail to my mate's house in Cardiff Bay,
then across to Sully via a nice country road. Much easier) a
guy who parked his bike next to mine asked "Is that your
bike?". When I replied in the affirmative, he said "Nice
saddle!", at my luvverly Brooks (cheers Pete!), and we
chatted about Things Bike until he got off at Cathays.

    Very civil.

me too, in fact only yesterday I had a chat with a man in
a Transco van, just after he had ran me off the road at a
width restriction (where I had the big arrow, ie right of
way). Unfortunately he wasn't as chatty as I had hoped,
he soon drove away at great speed but I suppose he must
have had an emergency gas leak to attend or something, so
I had to content myself with a very short reponse indeed.
He DID stop a little further on, but he really must have
been in a rush as he had to zoom off again almost
immediately. So I missed out adding to my collection of
    car registrations, ho hum.

Also, a bit earlier, I WOULD have had a nice chat with a
bloke running down Apple Street as I was riding (sort of) up
it, however the 1:1 gradient kind of precluded me speaking
    at all....

Nice to see you back posting Keith, and enjoying your
    cycling. Me too!

    bfn,

    Tony B
