I live in the US. I have been on WW since March. I lost
37.2lbs in the first 8 weeks. Now my body is slowing down.
In the 9th week I put on 2.2 lbs. In the 10th week I lost
.2lbs and last week I lost 1 lbs. I am a little depressed
right now because I wanted so badly to lose my 10% which
would be 40lbs. I like WW, some days are easier than others.
My will to lose weight is very high. I am sick of being fat.
I am also diabetic and now that I am eating right my blood
sugar is much better. This group has a lot of info. Keep up
the good work.

expect a slow down and a few hiccups on the way! You've
been averaging about four and a half pounds a week, which
is more than WW really like, so don't worry about it. It
took me 18 months to lose 38 pounds! It seems to be a bit
better now, but I put two back on, and have a pound of that
still to lose.--

Welcome.
Congratulations on 37+ pounds gone!
Yes, it can get a bit discouraging when the rate of loss
slows. Just remember that staying on program is the single
best way to keep losing. If you don't stay on program, what
else would you do?Realize that a slow weight loss is more likely to be
permenant than a quick one.Hang in there, the 10% will be gone before you know it.
Best, Diane

Fred #2 here, congratulations on the loss!
Discouragement is a problem we all have from time to time
but you can work through it. You indicate you are into your
12th week. Just think, where would you be if you hadn't
begun WW in March? You would still weigh 400, and your blood
sugar would be right back where it was, and you would still
be 12 weeks older! You are in a learning process and there are bound to be
little pitfalls and setbacks. Your body will shed the
weight fast in the beginning but don't always expect a
loss. There are lots of factors to your weight like body
cycles, time of day you eat, what kind of activities you
do, weekday versus weekend, moods, and a myriad of others.
Sometimes you can trace a gain to poor eating decisions you
have made, and sometimes its just a bad combination of all
the other factors.Hang in there. You will do great!

weren't just starting out. It looks like you are now having
to settle down for the long haul. You can lose quite
quickly. 2 pounds a week is achievable at your weight. That
doesn't sound like a lot but it builds up over time. Very
quickly you begin to see differences, like your pants don't
fit, or your rings fall off 🙂 If you start doing exercise
it's even more obvious.Take before pictures so you remember where you've come
from. Also take measurements so you can track how your
body changes over time. And log your weight in a
spreadsheet. That way you can plot a running average over
say 8 weeks and you can watch the average fall even when a
single week goes up.Joining WW is a great move. Now you look forward to
losing the weight and getting fitter. Your body will love
you for it.Ray

Welcome to the group. You've found a wonderful group of
people all ready to help and support you along the way. You've done very well for your first 10 weeks. As several
have pointed out 4 pounds a week is probably too fast to
lose in the long run. Okay as a start but you should level
out to 1-2 pounds per week as being a nice safe rate to
lose. Too fast and you don't learn new habits plus it means
that you are viewing this as a diet and not a WOE/WOL (Way
of eating/way of life) that will be with your the rest of
your life if you want to keep the weight off. Don't get
discouraged by the 2.2 gain. Look at your journal for that
week. Did you do something different? Not enough water or
perhaps too much salt that week? Maybe you can see what
changed from weeks 1-8 to week 9 that caused the weight and
your slow down. Hang in there.<[email hidden]> wrote in message

lose that much are tough. Don't you wish you could wake up

You have done incredibly well over the past 10 weeks. My
average weekly loss during my entire weight-loss period was
about 0.7lb/week. I figure anything more than that is great!
Here's the welcome notice, just for you to give you some
more info about the group.Welcome to this great newsgroup where you'll receive lots of
support, advice, and encouragement. Once a week on Sundays,
I post a list of links that newcomers to asdww might find
useful. You may want to look for that later in the week, or
do a backwards search for last Sunday's post.In the meantime, here's our FAQ:

How many points you can eat is only based on your current
weight, as you lose weight those points allowed will
decrease (logic is that your body will need less to
operate). At 183 pounds and based on the new US flexpoints
system, you will have a set point target of 24. In addition
to this you are allowed 35 flexpoints to be used throughout
the week ... as well as any activity points you earn on a
particular day. When your weight drops to 175, your target
drops to 22 points ... weight reaches 150, target once
again drop to 20 points. 3 servings of dairy of recommended
per day, 5 servings of fruit and veggies, minimum of 6
glasses of water. To calculate food and activity points, I love this computer
desktop calculator ...
zythra.compoints.exeOpen ↗The basic plan is easy. Eat at least your minimum daily
number of points. Points do not carry over from day to day.
You are allotted 35 weekly flexpoints to be used at your
discretion ... can divide them up and use daily (would be an
additional 5 points per day) or save them and use them for a
special occassion during the week. Activity points are
earned based when exercising, but can ONLY be used on the
day they are earned. If you can afford $15/month, the online ww program might be
a great thing for you to look into. There is lots of
information available, as well as the food point database
and journaling system.Joyce WW starting weight: 228.8 - 2/5/02 current weight:
133.3 Lifetime: 4/4/03Please note that if you live in onther countries (UK,
Australia, NZ, Europe), the Points plans are different. The
UK and Australia/NZ calculate points based on saturated fat
and total kilojoules. Most of Europe calculates based on
total fat and total kilojoules. The desktop calculator above
can handle all of these programs.Disclaimer: As an unmoderated Usenet newsgroup, asdww is
unusual in that most of the people who participate are
respectful, considerate folks who freely share their
experience with and knowledge of WW, weight loss, and
maintenance. Yet occasionally, spammers, trolls, and flamers
show up to post advertising, false information, insults, and
the like. Nearly all of the time, people like this are just
trying to yank someone's chain. Most of the regulars on this
newsgroup offer their experience as a suggestion to try if
you're stuck, but are quick to advise that each person has
to find what works for him/herself. If someone posts
something that doesn't sound right to you, ask the
newsgroup, ask your WW leader, or ask your health
professional.Much success on your weight loss journey! WW works!

Wow, you are off to a fantastic start!!! Congrats on how far
you have come already. I know it's hard not to be
discouraged when the weightlosses slow down, or that
occasional gain does appear - but try hard not to let it get
the best of you. You're losses so far have been incredible,
but you will slow down eventually
- it's the nature of the beast. It really is better to lose
at a slower rate. Gives you time to learn those new
lessons and make them into habits, as well as gives the
body time to adjust, skin to shrink back, etc. It's well
documented that those who lose weight at a slower rate are
much more successful at making the weightloss permanent.
And it isn't a race. You WILL reach that 10% goal - does
it really matter when? Hang in there, and be proud of
yourself for you accomplishments so far. Oh ... and
welcome to our little corner of the world!Joyce
