Bit of a shock comparing prices with the Canadians, e.g.

    metformin 500 mg:

    Tekmed: $0.81 apiece
    Canadian Glenway: $0.32
    apiece

Why would you want her to feel that much pleasure?

I prefer the old curses, like the Arabs, slightly modified,

Brings to mind an "old" story, which I'd very much like
    to believe
is/was more than simply a good tale ....

Seems some woman was being harassed by the likes of a bunch
of construction workers - she recited, in the original
language, the recipe for some Hungarian or Bulgarian or what
ever dish ... they went away feeling suitable admonished,
not having understood a word, but not for one moment
doubting that she had recited the history (or lack thereof)
    of their recent ancestry ...

Perhaps somebody will remember it better than I do ??

Having said that however, there are times when nothing
fits better than a loudly stated Anglo-Saxon four-
    letter word ....

Offer them alphabet soup perhaps ???

Although I have to say that overuse of said Anglo-Saxon four-
letter language does cause it to become severely diluted ...
kinda loses it's "shock value" .... and makes it less
effective as an expression of extremes .....

I once used one of the 4-letter words (I forget if it was
the f word or the s word) during a work briefing, muttering
to myself. The guy next to me (a buddy) nearly fell off his
chair in surprise -- not that I knew the word, of course,
it's common in police circles! -- but that *I* used it,
    which was rare.

Using these words too much, & for lesser reasons, makes them
lose their "punch" and also shows a lack of imagination.

I knew one guy who said the f or f'er word almost every
2nd/3rd word he said (sometimes preceded by "mother" --
almost in a rapper-type rhythm, which made it almost
interesting to hear him talk. bj

Funny thing though - when I was a young navy apprentice I
used to "f-and-blind" with the best of them (although even
then there were some circumstances I didn't do so - like in
"mixed" company for example) these days I do so very much
less .... and I find those "every second word" people quite
off-putting .... and *especially* those movies where a large
part of the dialogue is 4-letter language for no apparent
reason other than for the sake of saying the words ..

Like everything else, when it becomes gratuitous, it loses
    impact and becomes boring ....

Ditto - except that I was a young (well, I was in 1964!)
RAAF apprentice. Apart from that, I rarely swore outside the
barracks environment. I was probably influenced by an
English teacher who taught me that excessive profanity
    indicated a poor vocabulary.

But, I'm human enough to use it when I lose my cool. At
least when I do, those who know me know just how upset I am.

I've mentioned before that, as a cab driver, I found the
most effective insult I ever employed to a road-rager was to
pull up beside them at the next lights (you always did catch
up with them:-), motion to them to roll down the window,
and, when they are smirking at the expected tirade, ask
politely and in a reasonable tone:

"Have you always been a moron, or did you attend a special
school to rise to that level?"

Worked every time. Once they worked it out.

    Hi Beav.

Apart from the fact that it was generally safer to stay in
my cab, my customers weren't usually into violence by their
    driver. Made them nervous.

But making them laugh usually led to a tip. I got a few good
    ones from incidents like that.

I also once got a brick through the back windscreen; nothing
    works every time.

Ah yes, *IF* they work it out though .... the most common
causes of the need for such insults in this country are way,
    w a a a y below the level of even comprehending that it's
intended as an insult, let alone work out the insult itself
..... to say nothing of the fact that the sea of dark faces
in the rest of the vehicle is likely to take you on as well
    - just on principle, because your altercation with the
"driver" may make them a few seconds late at their intended
    destination ......

"driver" is used here in the loosest fashion - as in "he who
knows that this round thing in front has some vague
connection with where the tin box will go and that other
pedal next to the go faster one has some even vaguer
connection with reduction of speed "
