  1. The thread on rice balls reminded me of a recipe I've been
hunting. In Hawaii last year we what the restaurant called
"azuki bean pudding". I've been searching cookbooks and the
internet with no luck. I've found recipes for and made an
azuki bean dessert that has the consistency of firm
gelatine, but that's not it. I'm beginning to wonder if it
was it haupia with added beans.

    Any ideas?

Azuki is the Japanese name for the beans. Chinese call them
red beans (hong dou) or xiang si dou.

    For chinese style,
    nicemeal.comdessert11.html Main
ingredients would be corn flour, coconut milk, etc. May be
it's haupia, I've never been to Hawaiiii, I dunno.

    Japanese style,
    recipegoldmine.comjapan7.html It
looks like gelatine is majorly important! May be it's those
ultra expensive, rather sweet jelly cubes??? I'm not
japanese so I don't know for sure, but I can write the words
out, do you have a piece of paper?????????

Not sure if this is it, but it looks interesting. I'll have
to try it once I locate the water chestnut flour.
Fortunately, we have lots of Asian markets relatively close
    by.

I've made something similar to this. This isn't it.

Seeing as how I had it Hawaii it could have been from
    several cultures or a combo/hybrid.
