I am building up a bike for Time Trialing and am wondering
what advantage is actually gained from using aero bars, so
if any body has any information, I would dearly love to hear
from you. Thanks in advance. Ro.

Yes. To get full benefit, lots of time using them builds
confidence and you will be able to stay aero long enough to
experience it. Tom--

a 10-mile TT. That's compared to riding on the drops of a
normal racing bike, not low-profile cowhorns. The advantage
is that your arms are together and your shoulders are lower
so you catch a lot less wind. It's very rare to see anyone not using them in our club TTs
[1]. Those that aren't are often (like me) riding a normal
road bike as an "excuse" for poor times until they get into
some kind of form! They need a bit of practice and steering becomes tricky
below about 15mph. You'll also have to move your saddle
forwards a bit, and maybe point the nose down slightly.[1] but having watched the Giro prologue on Sunday, some of
the guys in our club have more expensive TT bikes!
