Several exist, most are under $20, but you may be unaware of
the fact that they merely mount in the vicinity of the BB,
they do not engage with the drivetrain. They still rely on
contact with the tire (in this case, of the rear wheel) to
drive the generator.

Similar concept, similar results. Not as efficient in terms
of power produced for drag induced as is obtained by a
dynamo hub, from what I understand. Whether they are more
efficient in terms of cost is, of course, a matter of rider
