  1. Hi!

Anyone able to give me a rough idea of the weight of the GT
avalnche series? I'm in the market for one, but can't seem
to find this info *anywhere*, even the manu's website!

    Thanks!

    Steve

  3. Ah - thanks! Being a complete newb, where does that stand in
the grand order of bike weights - from the lightest racers
to the clunkiest high street budget models?

    Thanks,

    Steve

Don't worry too much about the weight, this issue is way
over rated IMHO. Geometry matters much more when endurance
and ridability come in than a couple pounds. Unless you're
racing and need every edge, a lighter bike won't improve
you. If you're new to mountain biking, try out a few in your
price range and stick with the one you enjoy riding most.
TBF was just quoting a fairly accurate "stereotype" for
bikes of that level. I ride a similar setup and enjoy every
minute on my bike. For reference, bikes very a lot on
weight. A really slick hard tail may be 22-23 pounds where
as a Free Riding machine may be near 40. I've heard of Jeep
department store bikes weighing much more, probably as much
    as my Miata ;-).

  5. Thanks Bryan! I was mainly interested in weight cos I want
to learn to bunny hop stuff - and I'm weak! lol

    Great post nonetheless,

    Steve

Bunny hopping is more to do with technique.

Or you could just use some old, crappy clipped ones, and
    take the clips off.
