Can anyone recommend a campsite in the Northumberland area -
somewhere in the Alnwick / Cheviot/ Berwick triangle? Coast
or inland. Not too close to centres of population.
This is a cheap base for tourism, not a camping trip to
enjoy the outdoors as such. So we're after a quiet but well
organised site - the sort of place where the ladies
especially will get a pretty decent facilities block (firmly
written into the spec I've been given!), but no noisy on-
site entertainment. The other nice thing would be a site
organised in such a way that tents have "pitches" - away
from vans - so one is less likely to return to find someone
else squeezed in ridiculously tight beside you - or just a
quiet, spacious, under-used site.
We plan to go in early July, before the schools finish, as
our one remaining school-age child has a legitimate
opportunity to take a week out. First time we've been able
to avoid school hols in a very long time!
Thanks!
Stuart (slightly embarrassed, who normally camps down-market
or wild - and alone!).
