Rabies Question

I'd be more concerned about cat scratch disease for your
girlfriend, which doesn't always show symptoms but can cause
blindness and other birth defects in babies whose mothers
have been infected at one time or another.

In the meantime I'd hunt for that cat to capture it so it
can be studied and perhaps she won't have to go through all
of the injections.

Tests used in the diagnosis of cat scratch disease: Positive
Bartonella serology Bartonella henselae IFA test (uses fluid
or tissue from a lymph node) A lymph node biopsy to rule out
other causes of swollen glands A positive CSD skin test

That's definitely a possibility, if she has any symptoms at
all, look into it, and maybe even if not.
