A lot of times, that markup includes the freight. In some
cases, it worked out better for me, if I was ordering just
one, or two pieces.

I have only heard good things about the company in
general, and get a good vibe from them, but have no direct
experience.

They've always been good to me, and are who I will
order from first, unless someone else has what I'm
looking for on sale.

For the record though, I've always had my wheels built by
Universal Cycles. I went with the brass nips last time out.

So, any word on Speedgoat wheelbuilding? Anything that
sets them apart from other builders, for better or for
worse? 75% of a durable wheel is the build, you know, even
if that figure is a completely abstract one I just pulled
out of my ass.

For the record, Salsa Delgado Cross on Deore hubs, DT
Champion 14g, brass nips. Everything black. Finally getting
my CrossCheck.

I bought my current bike (Santa Cruz Superlight) from
Speedgoat 3 years ago and was and am completely satisfied in
all respects, including the wheel build. Originally, I was
going to do the bike build myself and pick up a factory
wheelset (I don't build wheels) , but the convenience vs.
the price convinced me just to have Speedgoat do the whole
thing. The bike build was around $65, and why buy a prefab
wheelset when you can go custom at a comparable price?

My wheels have King Disc hubs, Mavic 317 disc rims, DT Swiss
Competition 14/15 spokes, and alloy nipples. Starting my 3rd
season, the wheels have never needed truing.

Definitely happy with and recommend Speedgoat.
