For the last 2 months i have been using 80W90 Gear oil for
my chain. it is good since it doesnt drip off in the cold,
and so far, the salt that was on the roads have not gotten
into my chain
Now that it is warmer, and since there is no more salt on
the road, what can i use on my chain? i dont want to spend
$10 on a smal tube from a LBS when if i was that desperater
for good stuff i could spend that much on synthetic oil, and
that would be a litre.
My bike is 5 yrs old, i spent $150 on it. Yess it is a
cheapo, but it has lasted 5 yrs, and probably over
20,000km. i am not nice to it, but it has survived. Since
it is worth that little, i dont see the need for spending
lotsd of $$$ on oil.
I did my first major cleaning on it a couple of weeks ago. i
had to use a wire brush on the cassette to get out the grime
out. now my bike rides like a dream.... maybe i ll regrease
my bearings, for the first time.
