are these still being manufactured cos my pair, which i was impressed with, are on their last legs ( a bit like me , really...).
if they've gone bust does anyone know of a dealer who might have some left on the shelf, or failing that, any recommendations for an equivalent / better boot?

Yeah I've been impressed with my Neebee Phoenixs, which I bought on the basis of a favourable review.
Neebee went out of business in November 2002.
Which? magazine did a review a few months ago - I believe it was for general purpose boots - Berghaus Sportrek GTX came first, Berghaus Explorer III was second. As ever with reviews, it's worth reading what the criteria were and how they tested them to check that it matches your requirements.
Another site with reviews - <URL:http://www.outdoorsmagic.c- om/review/review.asp?sp=328544336970364941598&v=1>
