I have been diagnosed with a dissected LAD, ( 20mm ).
Troponin was 3.9 Heart Cath shows all clear except for
the dissected LAD.
I would guess that you were stented.
Hmm,...no I was not. They, of course, suspected
blockage are were set to stent, but all was clear when
they found the 20mm dissection. They removed the cath
and I have been placed on meds only,...
I found that puzzling. Would you think so as well,..??
That would depend on the blood flow. If there was good blood
flow, then it would be a judgment call.

What type of recovery could I expect, and could I
expect to return to normal athletic activity ?

Near immediate depending on the healing of the puncture
wound in your femoral artery. Your cardiologist should
have advised you on how many days of rest before
resuming strenuous activity (typically 3-7 days).
Immediate huh,..??
That was with the guess that you were stented, which
apparently did not happen.
Quoted message said:The dissection is a 20mm tear, not exactly a puncture.
If you were stented, the dissection would have been "fixed."
The puncture was referring to how the catheter entered into
your femoral (groin) artery.

He stated I would not race again, and would not

it was, "we'll talk",...
It sounds like your cardiologist has unilaterally decided
what choices you would have.

profile is optimal for someone with coronary disease. If
not, statins should be considered as a measure of
secondary prevention. Because you suffered a heart
attack, an ACE inhibitor should be considered to prevent
remodeling of your myocardium.
Hmm,...yeah, but I cannot remember any of the lipid
results. Guess I will have to get a copy and find out
what they were,...
Thanks for you assistance.
You are welcome.
