  1. I've just been into my local bike shop to get a few bits.
One thing I wanted was a long brake cable, tandem length
just to make sure I have enough. The shop is a small one and
so Dave who owns it doesn't have lots of suppliers to draw
on. His supplier let him down on this item after I'd ordered
it a week or two ago. So, Dave went upstairs and cut the
cable off a brand new tandem MTB and sold it to me for a
nominal price. All he has to do now is to remember to
replace it before he lets anyone ride that tandem! Anyway,
Dave Heron (Durham) is a nice bloke.

He did the same for me after I acquired a 105 brakeset, one
of which was missing a pinchbolt and grooved washer thing.
Very nice of him! Both bike shops in Durham are pretty damn
    good, actually.

Both? Which is the other one? I know there is one up
Claypath and one out in Meadowfield. The Claypath shop staff
weren't very helpful the one time I went there. I didn't
manage to visit the Meadowfield shop despite cycling past it
twice a day for a year.

Sorry, by "both" I meant Herons and the Claypath one.
