These responder devices that fit in seat tubes, they're supposed to be impossible to remove but I've heard thieves have tools/techniques for getting them out. Any tips for making them more permanent?
Can the chip be removed from the package and stuck elsewhere without damaging it? How about with a load of epoxy resin?
What is the range of the readers the police use? I'm wondering if the tag would be detected if it was in an unusual place in the frame or bike. I would be worried the whole bike wouldn't be scanned.
Any other thoughts/info on this type of thing or this brand in particular would be appreciated as well.
Thanks Paul. I wonder which units the police use? Ranges vary right from 4 to 55cm. 55cm might be enough, with a bit of luck, if transponder is in a weird place.

Nah, I'll go the whole hog and get a racing pig to pull me along.
Got my Trovan kits now. Only cost £5 each (new) + p&p off eBay, so not much money (or weight: <8g) wasted if they're actually not much use. Hopefully the stickers will be a deterrent anyway.
