A "Nimrod" classically defined, is a fearless hunter. I
reckon the meaning you were looking for was something less
honorable. Perhaps "Dufus" or "Gomer"?

This is the influence that cartoons has had on our language.
In a Bugs Bunny cartoon, Bugs referred to the hapless hunter
Elmer Fudd, saying "I wonder what the little Nimrod is up
to?" Most of us kids, not knowing the historical reference
to Nimrod as a great hunter, assumed that the term was
synonymous with "dufus" or "gomer".

The British RAF had (probably still do) an airborne radar
platform on an aircraft called the Nimrod. It was the
equivalent of the Boeing AWACS radar plane. Not sure if it
was because it was a "great hunter", but its radar used to
regularly pick up Porsches on British motorways speeding.

That's not my mistake, that is a translation from the cyclingforums interface making ugly html for me.
It seems to work just fine when viewed via cyclingforums but not via google groups.

Try this:
Type in the URL into that little horizontal box at the top of your browser and hit enter. That works too, smarty pants.

Are you sensitive about that "statement" Tommy ? That would

The only reason I even read this ng is to waste time at work. CF works behind the firewall, and is faster than google.
Are there any other web-based news readers besides CF and google?
