  1. I have recently walked the Cumbria Way and can recommend it
as an excellent long distance walk, roughly 75 miles. The
scenery is spectacular and although quite a lot of the hill
climbing is hard going the quaint little English pubs that
you can stop off at are a welcome reward and there are
    plently of them.

    Hi Laura,

I am just planning this walk for May or early June. In fact
I just put Anthony Burtons book down looked up and your
    message was on screen!

Did you camp or stay in lodgings?

Any tips? Stuff to do or not to do?

    Hi David

We stayed in a few hostels, a B&B and 1 hotel. The
accomodation at all stops were very good. Especially Dungeon
Ghyll, the hotel is really comfortable with good food and
the walkers bar has a good atmosphere. We walked from
Ulverston to Carlisle, first stop Coniston, next Langdale,
Keswick, Caldbeck and finally Carlisle. Tips- take a good
set of waterproofs I wore mine most of the time. Watch out
for low cloud, at the top of some of the hills it's possible
to get a bit lost, a compass is a good idea. Some of the
stages don't have any pubs/cafes to stop for lunch so make
sure you have something to eat with you. On the whole very
enjoyable with some stunning views. Hope you enjoy.
