I haven't seen them around for a while. Not sure what you mean by the last statement, but W. L. Gore was founded and is still based in Newark, Delaware.

  3. The Flakjacket cablesets are pretty well regarded, aren't they? If you decide to opt for them, be sure to let us know what your experience is like.

Don't see anything on the Gore site about them anymore, but they are still listed at:

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/kitsBuildYour.asp?category=Cables&ModelID=1856

    http://www.excelsports.com/new.asp?page=8&description=Cable+Set&vendorCode=GORE&major=1&minor=9

    http://www.bikepro.com/products/brakes/brakecable/gorecables.html

Not sure if they are in stock or not.

The second one is UK site. As was previously stated Gore is a US company

  5. Try this:

  6. Kind of side-stepping the question, but I think there is another maker of teflon coated cables that brand them as "Jag-Wire"

Wish to thank all you for your "hits" and feedback, however, the frustration of locating Avid's or Gore's gear sets isn't worth the time or money. Once the sense when in 10K miles you'll probably replace the cables and the improved performance is negligible. Went with Shimano DA sets.
