'Pure enjoyment of riding the bike' should really be an option 😄

Like you Pace-Line, I prefer the training and racing. Suffering is bliss.

I ride for the simple reason that I want to kick ass. I don't terribly enjoy riding but I don't hate it. I do it because I'm good at it and would love to make a job out of it.
Also, I love the body that riding has given me....heh

I enjoy getting out and riding with friends. We push each other so we get a good cardio but at the same time we are having fun.
I have not competed yet although that is my goal....I feel that I need to be in better shape first.

I also like to do something strange, not everybody knows about this trick: I like to use my bike to go places, er, that is to say, as I go from a to b, I experience 3 or more of the above - that is what gives me the best excuses/motivation to get out there. I gotta' go somewhere. Need milk? Gotta' to a meeting? Cinema anyone? Ride the kids over to judo (on bikes, usually)?

I'd love to ride the 26 miles each way to work, but I'd get shot, mugged, raped, and shaved all in one sitting....not generally my idea of a good ride 🙂

Depends on what I want to achieve ..
I ride to feel that freedom; but, I am a bit competitive (more with myself nowadays) so it is good to pit yourself again someone else now and again just to see how you are doing ..
Where I live it is not always easy to take the bike out to do "stuff" as I would in England. Here there is always someone attempting to ride right up your rear just for the fun of it! I did ride to work and back the other day (only 3 miles each way) and there is one stretch across a 3 lane road both sides that is like dicing with death - and all for their 6' of road .. sorry, sorry, nope cannot wait, gotta gooooooooooooo, get outta my way attitude

I train to stay in shape, ride with friends, and enter the occasional race.

I started to ride again,I wanted to stay fit and I had always enjoyed riding a bike. When I was a kid, I race at our local BMX track.
Like many, I'm very competive and goal driven. Basically, want to see how good I can get and what I can do.
This year I have set goals to train all year so next season I can enter some TT and Road races.
-
right now I am just riding to get fit, but I think I may try some local race/rides next year

I ride to stay fit and in shape. Had an aortic valve replacement in 2000 and need the cardio workout.
Races has different meanings in different countries, in South Africa we cal the Argus a race, (35 000 cyclist starting in bunches 4 minutes apart to do a 109km "fun ride" 😄 ) we have smaller races with less entrants and shorter distances as well. If the above counts as a race then I do races as well, on the road with my mountain bike fitted with slicks.
What I do know is that enjoying cycling comes first and above all else. 😎 -
I compete in road racing and also enjoy bush touring and cross country MTBing. I used to BMX when I was a kid , been riding for years and I'll be riding until I'm ready for a wheelchair.🙂
