Campy wheels

Spline patterns are different betwen 8 and 9/10 speed. duno if it's possible but depending on the wheel you might change out the freehub body for the older 8 speed type, as it was possible to change out the older 8 speed types on some campy hubs to the new 9/10 freehub. just curious what would upgrading to 9/10 spd entail given a full 8spd campy group?

Thanks Boudreaux, that site answered all of my wheel questions.

Upgrading apparently requires a new rear derailleur, new ergo shifter (rear), new freewheel cluster (s) Cost (I would guess) is probably $300-$500 depending on source

You shouldn't have to buy a new shifter to change from 8 speed to 9 speed. You should be able to rebuild the shifter for a small cost.

I have asked in the past about using 8 speed camapg with new wheels, the answer I got mentioned using a special spacer for the cassette to make it fit.

IMO, it's worth the u/g to switch to Eurus wheels. I am very happy with my set. They, in effect, reduced my normal gearing by one cog tooth vs. Cane Creek Aeroheads.

The answer is not a spacer when the spline pattern is different.

Yeah, the opinions differ as to whether the spines are different. It will be a simple matter of checking a cog from one of my old freewheel clusters to see if they fit the new 9/10 speed hubs. But yes ,the spacing is different and there are spacers to accomodate this. Check the website Bourdreaux sent; it is very clear.

Thanks for the suggestion on rebuilding the shifter. I will check it out.
