Is it too much work to maybe sirgically remove the bottom
bracket shell and just put in a regular shell ? Maybe you
can even weld a new bottom bracket shell within the larger
old shell ?

I ran across an old Le Tour 12-speed at a flea market. I
was gonna use the frame to make an SWB (ladies frame,
almost like a Mixte) Anywho, it had Sugino 170mm cranks.
When I was playing crank length games on my Rotator Tiger,
I noticed these cranks fit WAY further up on the spindle
than my 155mm Doteks, i.e., closer to the front derailleur
(if it had one...)

I'm not using them right now. Wanna try 'em out?

I know about Crupi type adaptors, but they seem to run $40

ps on the subject of biopace type chain rings: I was able
to get the setup to work on one chain ring. I REALLY
liked the feel of it.

The literature says they are only good for a cadence of up
to 90 rpm.

Doug, Thanks for the offer, you are too kind, but that won't
cure my problem.

I have the big unthreaded bottom bracket shell, like
"grocery store bikes" have. Before I can buy a narrow bottom
bracket, I have to adapt the shell to the euro type. Crupi
and others make an adaptor (

I'm talking about)

My post was to see if there were other alternatives I was
unaware of.

I'm getting ready to order the adaptors and be done with it.

Plus, I'm a big fan of 155 DOTEKs myself. They sure do fit
tight, don't they??
