Ride, Crash, then repeat
It was going to be a little chilly at first, so I pulled a
t-shirt over my long-sleeve jersey. It said "RIDE" on the
front, the back said "CRASH, then repeat".
So that's what I did.
RIDE - I took a steep downhill fireroad to get to the climb
quicker. Turns out it was covered with THICK gravel of all
sizes (up to ~4"😉. Every downhill section was extremely
precarious.
CRASH - I'd made it most of the way OK, until the bike was
juddering so badly that I really couldn't see a line
anymore. I headed for the side, and that's where I went
over (thankfully). Just a few scratches, but I was
mentally shaken.
REPEAT - I got to the first part of the climb; there was a
section that was very close to the edge of a big drop, but
I'd never seen anyone fall there. Until now. I broke the
cardinal rule - I looked down. Then I slid down.
Fortunately, "repeat" was written in small letters on the
t-shirt. I took the damn thing off!
The rest of the ride went fine. Nasty climb, done relatively
well (for this time of year).
