Be sure to save at least *one* peep in a foodsaver canister.

Thanks for the reminder. Nathan has already received a
couple and I think he'll get a kick out of it!

Depending on Nathan's age, keep him away from some of those
other sites that were in the link. <eg>

Thank you, Dimitri! And I did just that.
(No Peeps though, they're not available here.)

I look just like Jesus. No, really. Well, if he'd
lived 'til 40.
But does that mean my local pub is open on my--er, His
resurrection?
Nooooo.

I poured a can of Fresca into the crockpot into the crockpot

probably added too much water.

Thank you Dimitri! And the same to you as well....and
heck, you can even keep my share of the "Peeps"! We
decided, against my better judgment, to do brunch. I will
never set foot in the Shores again...ugh. what wasn't
missing, was inedible.

We had a lovely day resting yesterday after the Easter bunny
deposits and the Sunday Dinner. Today, rest ready for the
working week to restart tomorrow.

And to you, too, D.
Had my son for dinner tonight. Not feeling too mobile, I
tried to come up with something easy to do.
I had a free range chicken. This morning I oven roasted
about a dozen cloves of garlic. I mashed them after an hour,
mixed in some olive oil and minced scallions. I inserted the
mix under the skin.
In a bowl, I mixed two tbsp of Spanish Pimenton (not the
smokey kind) with a quarter cup of olive oil, until well
mixed. I painted the bird red all over, and let it sit in
the fridge for a couple of hours. I then placed the bird on
a rack in the roaster for half an hour at 400F. I then
turned it over, breast side up for another 40 minutes. While
all this was going on, I had another roaster pan filled with
large chunks of Yukon gold spuds, sitting in some combo of
olive oil and duck fat. To this I added some Malden Sea
Salt. When chicken was done, so were the spuds.
While the bird rested for ten minutes before carving, I
placed some first of the season Yakima asparagus in a dish,
with a dask of water on the bottom. To this, I added a
teaspoon of lemon pepper seasoning. I then sprinkled some
freshly shredded parmagana cheese on top. And nuked it for
two minutes.
Good dinner. And simple, too.
And what I liked the most, no recipe involved.

Did anyone answer you? It's those little marshmallow chicks
you can't miss around Easter ... they have yellow sugar
outside to make them look like just hatched chickens.
I know, they come in other colors and rabbits now.

Interesting, here I am an American of 68 years and I have
never run across them, maybe because my children did their
growing up mostly in Spain where Easter, at least those days
was very different.
Thanks, next Easter I will get one and try it or maybe
I will find some in a super market in the getting rid
of section.

Here's the funny thing ... people buy them after Easter for
cheap (cheap peeps) and let them go stale. Expose them to
air. They're pretty horrid, so don't invest your life
savings in them. (smile)

Uh, why? Do they reproduce by fission or something, making
next year's peep purchase unnecessary?

They are *not* horrid! They are great! Especially stale! I
have some vintage ones in the cupboard from about 5 years
ago. Unfortunately they are not getting stale! I think the
company started adding some sort of evil preservative. I
mean the packages are slit open to let the air in and the
dame things just won't get hard. I'm going to leave at least
some of them there just to see how long it actually takes
for them to get hard - if they ever do. Remember to bite the
heads off first in order to humanely eat them. You don't
want the little darling to suffer.
