I used to have this Johnny's Roasted Garlic Marinade for
quite some time. The ingredients are This is in the order
of priority Canola Oil.: water, sugar, vinegar, but it
goes down here and it says it has high fructose corn
syrup, of course we all know about that. But then a
little further down, it' s even got things like potassium
sorbate and sodium benzoate. It's got xantham gum and
it's got calcium desodium and propylene glycol alginate.
I'm just curious, that is probably just a whole mess of
preservatives. I'm curious what are those things, are
they good or bad? Why are they in there? I'm not too
excited about some of those words? Now I'm looking over
at Newman's. I've switched over to Newman's actually.
I've been using this olive oil and vinegar once again in
the order of ingredients, it says it has olive oil, and
then the next ingredient is vegetable oil (soybean oil
and/or canola oil). So what kind of and of course it
doesn't have any of the preservatives that Johnny's has.
What is the extent of the vegetable oil, the health
aspect of vegetable oil? Then it says soybean oil, canola
oil, we don't even know how much of those two items are
included in vegetable oil. What is soybean and canola
oil, are those oils healthy or not? Once again I am
looking at Newman's Italian Parmesan and it does have the
xamtham gum in
it. I'm just curious what that is for, maybe for
consistency. See it's also in the Newman's Caesar
Dressing too. Just curious the health benefits of
canola oil or these oils. I notice that some of them
have a lot of sodium in them too. Thanks for any input
you might have?

Hi Steve,
I prefer olive oil. I like how it tastes, and it has
proven health benefits if the health of Sicilians, South
Italians, and Greeks are anything to go by. The
following is an interesting read. Some people feel this
website is biased, but enjoy anyway if you wish:

Proven health benefits?
I thought their good health was from tomatoes and tomato
sauce? or was it pasta? or was it red wine with every meal?
or was it the material in the suits they wear? ...no I think
it was olive oil this week."Chad C." <[email hidden]> wrote in message

exercise does not kill them? Well it does eventually.Quoted message said:

No problem if approved for human consumption by a reasonable
heath authority.Quoted message said:

You don't eat the words, the substances are fine in the
quantities meant to be eaten.Quoted message said:

of the week... You will be hearing about something else
next month that "is causing the high levels of obesity in
our children"The key is to eat in moderation... whether it is ice cream
or carrot sticks, moderation is what will keep you
healthy... DO you drink the dressing? I hope not... You
should be okay. Unless you want to make your own, you will
have a hard time finding dressing that only uses Olive Oil,
Vinegar, and spices... Why, because Olve Oil costs
money, more money than canola or soy, and therefore it does
nor behoove the dressing maker to use all Olive Oil... The
other oils are fine in moderation, as is almost every type
of food... Moderation is key. -

scapegoats. They do it for just about everything. From
politics to religion to science and so on.Quoted message said:

does you good".And more people are killed with a knife and a fork
than by guns.My little brother piped in once that this was true of the
father of a school friend who slit his own throat with a
carving knife.
