We also thought of capers except that they are not a pepper.
Found some dry green peppercorns and smashed a few of them.
Probably about 1/4 tsp or so. The recipe called for 1 T of
brined green peppercorns. The dish still turned out good,
but not sure how it would have tasted with the correct
