Vindec... rarity or rubbish?

I think the bike looks like it may be late 50s or early

the late 60s. If that was the original equipment, though,
it was probably an entry-level bike in its day.

Any ideas on this one, folks? Worthwhile find or a waste
of shed space?

I used to have one (small frame version)when I was a
teenager in the early 1970s, I don't think it was anything
special as we weren't well off. There's one here for 15
quid, so it won't be worth much.

Thanks, Simon. You've pretty much confirmed what I thought.
Looks like it's going off to my nearest bike charity with a
bunch of other unfinished projects.

Just wanted to confirm it was nothing special.
Septugenarian and octogenarian clubmen looked at me blankly
when I mentioned the name so thought it might have some
rarity value.

Here's a turn up for the books, though. After trying to find
out something about the bike for the past couple of weeks I
discovered today that somebody else is selling a Vindec
SPEEDWING 25 (so that's what it's called!) on ebay...

Not really a collectors item, judging by the response so
far!

I hasten to add this is not a dubious marketing ploy on my
behalf, as mine is bronze and green and has those tiny (and
utterly useless) mudguards that were fitted to British
racers in the 70s...

That's my old bike! A Vindec Speedwing, except mine was in
gold. Just remembered it only had a single front chainring
and five at the back and here's me worrying about only
having a dual one and nine at the back on my new road
bike. What a wuss - I used to go up all sorts of hills on
that thing!

Septugenarian and octogenarian clubmen would probably look
blankly at anything other than a Hetchins. My brother had a
Vindec from the Grattan catalogue, gas pipe frame with
Shimano splined drive cranks which sheared off after ~367
days. Whoever strolled off with it whilst parked must have
realised its value.
